There will be opportunities for the attainment of postgraduate awards based on satisfactory performance in a series of real world projects in Platform Alpha using a specialised assessment model. The programmes are still at the design stage but when launched they will represent a unique opportunity to develop cutting edge competencies whilst building a project portfolio. In the meantime participation on one of Abertay's existing taught programmes will ensure contact with, and exposure to, the emerging and developing Platform Alpha project.
This project represents a significant continuation and growth of the world-leading digital media activities at Abertay University. The University was the first to offer taught postgraduate courses in software engineering for games technology in the nineties and has since complemented its portfolio with a range of other courses at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels including Computer Arts, Creative Sound Production, Game Production Management, Game Applications Development and Visual Communications and Media Design.
Abertay's undergraduate programmes in Computer Games Technology and Computer Arts both have Skillset accreditation. Abertay has gone on to develop a body of near market research and innovationactivities as well as the highly successful Dare to be Digital programme and the innovative White Space area.
