Funding & Incubation
A co-investment fund and incubation unit with an investment and support mechanism developed to provide the appropriate level of investor confidence and risk management to facilitate investment in start-ups arising from the two hubs and where the IP is largely content centred.
The challenge of reassuring investors in the fund regarding appropriate levels of investment risk will be addressed;
- through an innovative approach that will bring project confidence through a number of "anchor exploitation partner" relationships
- through a relatively modest level of individual investment exposure and
- through a closely managed and supportive incubation environment.
The attraction for investors would be the volume of deal flow, degree of innovation, first refusal options for some projects, availability of talent and proximity to market.
Outputs will be a pipeline of incubated start-ups, including some corporate spin outs, that will grow to become significant employers, supply chain components, digital media park tenants etc.
Deal flow will also come from other projects not generated in the project centre or innovation studio.
