Platform Alpha Benefits
Platform Alpha will be a major generator of (primarily) content based IP and combined with the integrated investment fund it will provide a pipeline of licence opportunities and start up companies with significant economic impact. Start up companies may be established to support particular new content streams or as part of the supply chain for an anchor exploitation partner or as a corporate spin out where a skunk works type project has been developed with a corporate partner.
One of the biggest impacts will come from the talent attraction factor as highly talented graduates are drawn to participate in the new postgraduate programme based on engagement in a suite of exciting real-world projects.
It will take five years to begin to have a significant economic impact and ten years to achieve critical mass and in that period it is hoped to create between 100 and 250 jobs. Supporting research has shown that this can be achieved and also provide satisfactory value for money regarding any public sector intervention investment to establish Platform Alpha.
